The latest mobile app update (v3.98.1) introduces a new way to accept in-person payments using Tap to Pay on Square. This means merchants can now accept contactless payments directly through the app without needing extra hardware—making in-person payments faster and more flexible.

What’s New: Tap to Pay for POS & Mobile Payments

The mobile app now supports Tap to Pay on Square, in addition to existing methods like:

  • Cards on File

  • Manual Card Entry

  • Square Readers

This means your customers can now pay with:

  • Contactless credit/debit cards

  • Apple Pay

  • Google Pay

  • Other NFC-enabled devices

Requirements to Get Started

Before using Tap to Pay, make sure you meet the following:

  • You have an active Square account

  • Your Square account is connected to an active Square location

  • That location is linked to your preferred sub-account(s) inside Gold Star Pro

How to Set It Up

Follow these simple steps to start accepting contactless payments:

Step 1: Connect Your Square Account

  • Go to Payments → Integrations on the Gold Star Pro web platform

  • Link your Square account and select a live Square location

Step 2: Launch the Mobile App

  • Open the Gold Star Pro mobile app

  • Log in and select the sub-account connected to your Square account

Step 3: Start a New Sale in POS

  • Open POS and begin a new sale

  • Add items using the keypad or product catalog

  • Optionally, link a contact and apply taxes or discounts

Step 4: Complete the Payment

  • Tap on Payment Instruments

  • Select Square Payments

  • Choose Tap to Pay to finalize the transaction

This streamlined update is designed to make in-person sales faster, simpler, and more flexible for your team and your customers. With Tap to Pay, there's no need for extra equipment—just your phone and the app.
