Merged Contacts, Same Workflow Progress
How It Works
When two contacts get merged, it used to sometimes cause workflow executions to drop or stop mid run, because the original contact record could be deleted as part of the merge.
This update fixes that.
Now, when a merge happens, Gold Star Pro automatically hands the workflow execution off to the correct contact record, so the workflow keeps running without missing steps.
If the master contact is not already in that workflow, the current progress moves across and continues under the master contact.
If the master contact is already in that workflow, Gold Star Pro stops the duplicate run and keeps the original execution going, so the contact does not get double messages.
Works even when several contacts are merged into one.
How to Use
You do not need to turn anything on. This runs automatically in the background.
To take advantage of it:
Merge duplicate contacts the same way you normally do.
Keep using workflows as normal.
If you want visibility, check the workflow execution logs. You will now see a clear “Contact Merge” style action so you can track what happened.

Why This Matters
Duplicate contacts happen. People opt in on different forms. They chat as a guest then later give an email. Your team manually creates a contact and then the real lead comes in.
When you merge those records, you should not have to worry about automations breaking.
This update means:
fewer missed follow ups
fewer leads slipping through the cracks
fewer messy “why did this stop?” troubleshooting moments
fewer double sends when a contact is already active in a workflow
This is one of those behind the scenes fixes that quietly makes your automations more reliable.
Use Cases
Live Chat to Known Contact
A visitor starts as a guest, enters a workflow, then later provides an email that matches an existing contact. When the merge happens, the workflow continues under the master contact, with no steps lost.
Cleaning Up Your CRM
You can confidently merge duplicates without worrying that important nurture or follow up sequences will stop.
High Volume Lead Gen Accounts
If you are running ads, chat widgets, and multiple funnels, duplicates are unavoidable. This prevents accidental automation drop offs when your team tidies records.
Avoiding Duplicate Journeys
If the master contact is already in a workflow, the system prevents the extra run, so the contact does not get repeated messages.
