Blogs: Blog Importer
Gold Star Pro is thrilled to introduce the Blog Importer, a new tool designed to simplify the process of transferring blog posts from any CMS to your Gold Star Pro platform in just three easy steps. This user-friendly feature enables you to import entire blogs with minimal effort—requiring just a link to start. From there, you can map out fields such as titles, categories, authors, and even select whether to publish immediately or save your posts as drafts. Here’s how it works and how to get started with your first import!
Getting Started with Blog Importer
Before you jump into importing, double-check that the source blog has a sitemap for posts. This ensures smooth importing and accurate content mapping.
To check for a sitemap:
If the blog’s main URL is blog.abc.com
, try visiting blog.abc.com/sitemap.xml
to locate the sitemap.
How to Use Blog Importer in Gold Star Pro
Follow these steps to set up and execute your blog import:
Step 1: Set Up Your Import
Navigate to the Blog Importer
Go to Sites > Blog on the Gold Star Pro platform.
Select the specific blog where you’d like to import posts.
Then, go to New Post > Import Blog Post.
Enter Your Blog URLs
In the importer setup, enter the primary blog URL and the URL of the latest blog post you’d like to import.
Select the platform from which you are importing your content.
Begin the Import Process
Once you start, the importer will scan the provided URLs for recent blog posts. You can monitor this process under the Imported Content section where the status will show as “Scan in Progress” while the import is underway.
Tip: If an iframe is blocked on the source website, the preview of your content may not be displayed, but the import process will still function correctly.
Step 2: Map Your Content Fields
After the initial scan, Gold Star Pro’s Blog Importer allows you to map specific content fields. This is where you define how each part of your imported posts will appear within Gold Star Pro.
Select Key Fields
Choose fields like Title, Published Date, Author Name, Content Body, and Category/Tag to map directly from the blog to your Gold Star Pro platform.Adjust Mapping as Needed
If the automated mapping doesn't align perfectly, you can manually fine-tune it. For instance, adjusting CSS selectors may be necessary for precise alignment if the source page has unique formatting.
Note: Some CSS selectors can be modified directly to achieve more accurate field mappings, especially when dealing with custom-designed blogs.
Step 3: Complete the Import
Once your content has been successfully scraped and mapped, it’s time to complete the import.
Select Import Options
After the import process completes (typically 10-20 minutes for around 1,000 posts), you have the option to import each post either individually or in bulk.Manage Imported Content
Initially, all imported posts will appear as drafts. You can preview each post and ensure all content appears correctly before publishing.Finalize & Publish
Once you're satisfied with the content, you can proceed to publish selected posts or the entire batch, making them live on your Gold Star Pro platform.
Recommendation: Always preview each post within Gold Star Pro before publishing it live. This final check can prevent potential formatting issues from carrying over to your blog.
With these simple steps, Gold Star Pro’s Blog Importer tool offers a powerful solution to streamline your blog management, enabling you to maintain a seamless blog presence across platforms without any technical hassle. Try it out today and enjoy faster, more efficient blog importing!
